We’re all now very familiar with the devastating impact the fashion industry is having on our planet, accounting for 2.1 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions in 2018 (around four percent of the annual total) alone. One of the biggest bodies looking to tackle this is the Global Fashion Agenda, which is set to present another instalment of its Global Fashion Summit this June. What Is The Global Fashion Summit?
Presented by the Global Fashion Agenda, the Global Fashion Summit is the world’s leading conference for sustainability in the fashion industry. First taking place in 2009, the summit brings together some of the industry’s leading voices and changemakers to host discussions on the environmental, social and ethical issues that impact fashion, people and planet, as well as ongoing pieces of legislation that are currently under discussion both within the EU and worldwide. It’s an interactive conference spanning two days that encourages people to get talking about the ways fashion can improve.
Moving from country to country, the summit is held annually in Copenhagen as well as internationally at alternating venues (last year’s was held in Singapore, for example). Some of the biggest names in fashion, spanning design, marketing, sourcing and top management, attend each year.

What Is The Global Fashion Agenda?
A non-profit organisation dedicated to helping the fashion industry adopt and execute a more sustainable way of thinking, the Global Fashion Agenda is committed to turning the current business model on its head in order to protect biodiversity and reverse climate change. Since 2009, it has been organising the Global Fashion Summit to help bring people together to accelerate change.

What Is The Theme?
The theme of 2023’s Global Fashion Summit is ‘Ambition to Action’, with events and content focused on how the industry can move from goals to actions while using real-life examples and case studies for inspiration.
Speaking on this year’s summit, chief executive at the GFA, Federica Marchionni, said: ‘With forceful ambitions for change clearer than ever, it’s time for fashion to flex its influence through proven implementation. Future generations will be forever grateful for the trailblazers that transformed ambition into action and pioneered net-positive leadership – galvanising the industry towards this will be the focus of this summit.’

The Global Fashion Summit will be held at the DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen, Denmark on 27 and 28 June 2023.
