The London Restaurant Festival Is Back
What to do (and eat) at this year's foodie extravaganza

London has one of the best restaurant scenes in the world. Famed stalwarts sit alongside an ever-growing stream of buzzy new openings, with an eclectic mix of cuisines on offer – from traditional British to Indian, Middle Eastern, Japanese and everything in between. This exciting culinary scene is celebrated each year at the London Restaurant Festival, which returns for its 15th year this June – complete with a line-up of over 50 events taking place across the city.
The London Restaurant Festival Is Back
This summer’s edition of the festival, running in partnership with American Express, will include both classic events and new additions, with a focus on appealing to a new, young generation of diners.Â
To kick off the festivities, POP Brixton will host a selection of pop-ups from rising street food stars, plus collaborations with former Brixton residents such as Smoke & Salt. Guests can enjoy a welcome drink from Tito’s Vodka plus a signature dish, and enjoy music from local DJs including Carmen London, who has featured on BBC Radio 1 and Capital Xtra.
Also new for this year will be a focus on the capital’s stellar gastropub offering, with names like The Rose & Crown in Clapham and Hicce Hart in Islington taking part. Cocktail lovers, meanwhile, can learn the tricks of the trade at one of the masterclasses on offer, such as margarita making at Decimo at The Standard and whisky-focused sessions at HIDE.
Favourites from previous editions will also be returning, including the Ultimate Gastronomic Weekend, running this year in collaboration with the festival’s new hotel partner, The Leading Hotels of the World. Foodies will have the chance to stay at two luxurious London hotels, complete with special experiences. Head to L’oscar London to enjoy a ‘Champage Gourmet Odyssey’ around Soho, plus tickets to a music festival, or book a stay at The Landmark London, where you’ll be treated to a chef-hosted lunch by the renowned Santiago Lastra of Michelin-starred KOL, alongside tickets to the Frameless exhibition and dinner at Portland restaurant in Fitzrovia.
Elsewhere new openings like Tom Cenci’s Nessa and Indonesian restaurant Toba will be celebrated in the Top Ten Cuisines series, while hotspots including Louie, Sucre and Sette will be offering special tasting menus in collaboration with drinks brands.
